Glampsite Essentials

Water:  Please try to ensure this is used sparingly, we try to be as environmental friendly as we can at CastleView.  All ‘grey water’ goes back into the land, so we ask you use products such as Ecover to wash up and environmentally friendly hair and body wash products.

Wood Burning Stove: Please only burn dry seasoned wood, do not use coal, anthracite or briquettes.

Never use flammable liquids to aid the ignition process.

Never leave the wood burner unattended.

BBQ Hire:  “Disposable BBQs” are not welcome as they cannot be recycled and burn our fields.

Never use the BBQ inside the tent.

Never use flammable liquids to aid the ignition process.

Always turn the gas supply off and then BBQ control off, to avoid any gas leaking.

Personal Cooking Appliances:  We cannot be responsible for your own personal cooking appliances brought onto site, however never cook inside the tent.

Fire bowls:  The fire bowl (Kadai) has sand in the bottom to retain heat longer and insulates some of the heat to prevent grass or decking scorching, so please do not remove.

Never use the Kadai inside the tent.

Never use flammable liquids to aid the ignition process.

Never light a camp fire anywhere other than the kadai provided.

We do not mind you collecting wood from our land, if it is on the ground, but breaking branches off of trees is strictly forbidden.

Please do not take wood from surrounding farmland, whether on the ground or on a tree.  These rules protect our neighbouring woodland.

Mobile phone: coverage overall is good, however, sometimes it’s not brilliant, that’s living in the countryside for you!!

If you need your phone charged, we are happy to plug you in at the main house during the hours 6am – 18pm.  You will have to provide your only charger though.

Please recycle all waste, The green bin is for card, paper, tin and plastics and the metal bin is for general waste.  For glass a plastic box is available.  You have a general bin per tent and at the end of your stay please place all rubbish in the bins provided.

Batteries:  Whilst we are electric free at CastleView, we provide new batteries upon each person’s stay.  Therefore, if these run out during your stay, you can buy further batteries from the CO-OP, less than a mile away.

Ice Packs:  For your cool boxes we provide ice packs each day, this will be left outside your tent each morning in a temporary cool bag.  Please leave the temporary cool bag out on your decking each night or the packs cannot be left.

Spreader bars in tents:  Please do not hang anything from the spreader bars in your tent.  We will have to charge you for breakages if these are broken during your stay.

Hopefully you’ll have a breakage-free holiday, but if you do break, damage or lose something, or you spot a maintenance problem, please text the owner as soon as you notice the problem so she can best resolve it for you.  She will do her best to arrange for repairs or replacements.

Smoking:  The tent does not allow smoking; however smoking on the decking is not an issue (as long as cigarettes are disposed of carefully and correctly) and not in close proximity of the tents.

No smoking applies to inside and round the showers and toilets.

Unaccompanied teenagers: are also not permitted under any circumstances.

Please do not enter the barns on site, these are private and could cause injury, thank you.

Livestock:  We have various animals on site, whilst some roam free, others are in paddocks with electric fences turned on at night – please warn your children of this and do not allow them to touch these fences (they will have signs on).  Whilst this will not cause harm, it will hurt – trust me I’ve tried it!

PLEASE ensure all gates that are closed remain this way, given the chance the animals would love to roam free, however pigs and goats cause huge damage to the land and could get lost!

We are happy for you to walk in the large square paddock with the sheep, but please do not enter the smaller aligned paddocks with pigs/chickens/geese/goats in.

Candles:  We can not promote the use of candles inside the tents, please never leave lit candles unattended.

Chopping boards:  You don’t have any kitchen surfaces presently, so when chopping vegetables etc, please use the chopping board provided – thank you!

Pets:  We try to get the balance right between being pet friendly whilst also providing high quality holiday accommodation.  We don’t charge a supplements for pets, but ask that some simple house rules are followed:

Please do not let your dog onto the bed or on any of the furniture, including the futons.  If your dog moults, please brush off any hairs up before you leave.

Please note that pets must never be left unattended either inside the tents or outside (on the land).

At the start of your stay, please ensure your dog is on a lead whilst on the land, as some of the livestock are not restricted to paddocks and can roam free.

You must clear any fouling on site and around the land on your walks.

Day visitors (not staying the night), including those coming for the animals and glampers’ friends, must be notified to the owner prior to arrival. All visitors are to keep their cars in the car park, and should leave by 10.00 pm.

Glampers arrival is at 15.00pm: If there is no one at the car park to greet you, send a text to 07979109329 and the owner will come to help you.

Overflow tents:  Can only be used if prior agreement has been made with the owner.  For overflow tents, Fire regulations require at least 3 m between tents in the same group, and 6 m between tents of different groups.

Noise & Behaviour:  This glampsite is for the quiet enjoyment of nature. We do not allow stereos or other sound systems and only quiet talking is allowed after 11.00pm. Acoustic instruments can be played before then, such as guitars, fiddles, flutes – but no drums! We do not allow the use of generators on site.  Where site rules are not respected we may refuse admission or require glampers to leave the site. We expect all visitors to comply with our regulations and to show respect for other glampers, our staff, and for the land.

Farm Shop:  We deliver items in stock straight to your tent within 24hrs.  Not all stock is kept on site, so a delay could occur, but you will be made aware of this.  Payment of items must be made prior to or upon delivery.

Security:  We do our best to maintain a safe site, but we cannot accept responsibility for the security of your vehicles or belongings. Please be sensible and ensure that all valuables, mountain bikes, canoes etc are properly secured at all times.

Boat Hire:  A single and double kayak is available for hire during the season, however your car must have adequate roof racks to transport these.  Single kayak costs £15.00 for half a day and £25.00 for a full day, double kayak costs £23.00 for half a day and £33.00 for a full day.   A disclaimer must be signed before use.

Roaming the land:  Our land is surrounded by roads on three sides (West, North and East), so when you come to this you have reached our perimeter!  The south side has The Lodges garden and large barns which are private, this is the only private area.

Chemical toilet disposal:  If you bring your own portable toilet and wish to dispose of the contents in our septic tank, please ensure that the chemical used does not contain formaldehyde, chlorine, bleach or any other corrosive/toxic chemical.

Trees:  Please do not set up tents/picnic under the trees (or climb them) All oaks have a condition called ‘summer branch drop’ where, especially after heavy rain, branches can suddenly drop!

THANK YOU!
